Community Profile
West Chester Area School District covers 75 square miles of suburban Chester County. It is located approximately 25 miles southwest of Philadelphia and 12 miles north of Wilmington, Delaware. The Borough of West Chester and seven surrounding townships make up the district known for its diversified businesses and beautiful historic countryside.
The student population, of approximately 12,000 is served by three high schools, three middle schools, and ten elementary schools.
Recognition of Excellence
East High School has earned two Blue Ribbon Awards of Excellence. These awards were based on the overall school environment, programs offered to students, student achievement, and quality of staff.

Highly Motivated Students
Seminar and Advanced Placement (AP) Courses are offered to highly motivated students at East High School.
Seminar—An extremely challenging curriculum in English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.
AP courses—These courses specifically prepare students for the National AP test which can qualify them for college credit and/or exempt them from freshman level courses. AP classes at East High School include:

Test Results
PSSA tests are administered to 11th graders each year in Reading and Math. In 2006, 92% of East students scored proficient or advanced in reading and 83% scored proficient or advanced in math.
