I have my Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting from Tyler School of Art and my Master of Education from The University of the Arts. Before coming to Exton I was a corporate trainer, I developed computer based training programs for military groups in the U.S., Malaysia, and United Arab Emirates, and I taught art at Upper Darby High School. I love teaching elementary art because my students are so enthusiastic (they will try anything!) and because I get to watch them grow up from first to fifth grade.

Mrs. Kathleen Koberg Gifted Resource Teacher
http://webrock.wcasd.net/Members/kkoberg

Since 1992, Kathleen Halligan Koberg, has been an elementary school teacher.  Beginning her career as a third grade teacher in the Prince George’s County Public Schools in Maryland, she then took a third/fourth grade teaching position in the Cherry Hill Public Schools in New Jersey.  She taught for seven years in Cherry Hill, commuting from her home in Chadds Ford.  After giving birth to a daughter, she and her husband decided it was time for her to work closer to home and so began her tenure in the West Chester Area School District.  It is here at Exton where she was a fourth grade classroom teacher and most recently found her calling as a gifted resource teacher. With a strong academic background from Villa Maria Academy, a Bachelor’s degree from Mount Saint Mary’s University and a Master’s degree from West Chester University, Mrs. Koberg has a passion for teaching and a deep appreciation for her students and the support of their families.

Ms. Karen Lande 3-5 Reading Specialist

I earned my Elementary Education degree at Millersville University and my Master’s of Instruction and Curriculum degree at the University of Delaware.  I am fortunate to have a wide variety of teaching experiences, including being a classroom teacher in 4th, 5th, and 6th grades and multi-age and inclusion classrooms.  In addition, I have worked as a reading specialist for several years.  Being the building reading specialist and working with grades 3, 4 and 5 is my dream job.  I look forward to continuing reading traditions that I have brought to Exton like Community Readers Day and collaborating on new projects and activities like the Exton Mind and Body Challenge.

I graduated from West Chester University with my Bachelor's in Elementary Education and earned my Master's Degree in Special Education from Cabrini College. I recently completed a certification in Autism from Penn State University.  I came to the West Chester Area School District in the spring of 2004 at East Goshen Elementary, and joined the fantastic special education team at Exton in September of 2005. Prior to joining the WCASD staff, I spent several years teaching autistic support and early intervention at the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit.  I am looking forward to another wonderful year at Exton with the opportunity to work with a fabulous staff and an energetic group of students!
