Dear Parents, (Spanish

During the school
year the classroom teachers and the reading specialists
periodically evaluate students using the DIBELS, the
4Sight and other reading and writing tests. These
evaluations help our school determine which children
could benefit from reading support beyond what your
classroom teacher can provide. In addition to the
reading specialists that district funds support, our
school also receives funds to hire an additional reading
teacher. This funding is provided by the federal
government and is known as Title 1. As the year
progresses and students are determined to need
additional reading help the reading specialist who is
funded through Title 1 may be assigned to help your
child. Although the funding for this position comes
from the Federal government, the Title 1 teacher is a
West Chester employee and is a certified Reading
Specialist. Title 1 requires us to tell you that Title
1 reading support is being provided in our school. It
also requires that we tell you that if you do not want
the reading help that Title 1 provides, you may tell the
school that you do not wish to have your child helped
through the use of these funds. This year Title 1
provided over $538,000 to the district for additional
reading support in 5 of our elementary schools. Please
feel free to call the district Title 1 office at
484-266-1203 for any additional information regarding
this program. You can also click
