Stetson will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week Monday, October 24th through  Friday, October 28th this year.  Student Council’s Red Ribbon Week Committee has picked the following themes for students AND staff:

Monday, Oct. 24th—Celebrate Red Ribbon Week!  (Wear red)

Tuesday, Oct. 25th—Living drug free is no sweat! (Wear sweat clothes)

Wednesday, Oct. 26th—Sock it to drugs! (Wear your craziest socks)

Thursday, Oct. 27th—Don’t get tied up in drugs! (Wear a tie)

Friday, Oct. 28th—Team up against drugs—wear your favorite team jersey or shirt

Brief explanation: Red Ribbon Week came into existence out of the tragic death of DEA Special Agent Enrique Camarena.  In 1985, Camarena was murdered while in Mexico investigating drug traffickers.  Friends and family in his hometown decided to use the red ribbon as a symbol of the fight against drug abuse.  In 1988, the United States Congress proclaimed Red Ribbon Week, and more than 100,000 schools participate.
